Our client's aluminium-smelting project is located in Fjardaal,
Somastidir, East Iceland where temperatures drop below zero in
winter months. A Frontier Doctor is looking after the 400 strong local
workforce who mainly speak English. It is expected that as the project
grows the work force will reach 1200 strong with more Polish speaking personnel.
Oil company, UK
Following the purchase of the Powerheart G3
Automatic AED and defibrillator training kit from medekit.com, Frontier Medical
delivered a one-day training course to review basic CPR and defibrillator usage
for key members of staff at our client's UK office.
Seismic Company, Central and Western Black Sea, Mediterranean
GP service and 24-hour emergency trauma management has been requested for a large
offshore survey project. The crew consists of a wide range of nationalities, therefore,
Frontier Medical has provided Russian speaking medics to cope with the different
languages and cultures on board the vessel.
Construction Company, Romania
A medical audit was conducted for
our construction client to assess the business case for corporate health activities
in Romania. The audit also reviewed the quality and availability of services and
provided recommendations for additional support that might be made available.
Audit of hygiene, food and water chain, Croatia
Frontier Medical reviewed four camps and two
office facilities for our client in Croatia. A full
review of the food and water chain to determine the
suitability of fitness for use was undertaken.
In addition a report detailing our findings together
with recommendations was produced for the client. Any potential infestions can be
dealt with quickly to reduce the risk of illness.
Mining and Exploration, Macedonia
One of the world's leading mining
companies required a first aid training programme for
field geologists operating in remote regions of
Bulgaria and Macedonia. Frontier Medical conducted a
practical course which enabled the crew to react
effectively to medical emergencies.
Offshore Seismic Acquisition, Europe
Frontier Medical provided Topside Support to
a fleet of up to six seismic vessels operating
worldwide. In order to ensure the correct
response to any medical emergency the vessels'
captains had access to 24-hour telephone medical
consultation from a doctor based in the United Kingdom.
Onshore Oilfield Development, Albania
Frontier Medical supported a joint venture
involved in the development of the Patos-Marinze
oilfield. The presence of high quality medical support
on-site, together with the development of emergency
medical evacuation planning, enabled the client to
continue work without disruption during periods of
political unrest.
