Projects in Asia
Offshore Seismic, Malaysia
Frontier Medical provided remote site medical support to the
personnel aboard a vessel offshore Sarawak, Malaysia.
Along side general medic duties Frontier conducted training
on board the vessel, resuscitation and defibrillation, positioning
of a spinal injured patient onto a Neil Robertson Stretcher
(which is employed aboard the vessel) and a review of CPR.
Veritas DGC, Kamchatka Seismic Project, Russia
EMS provided a Canadian Physicians Assistant together with a Russian doctor and nurse
in support of a seismic project in a remote area of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The two
camps were 70km apart and between them accommodated a multinational crew of approximately
70 people. There were no roads to the work site and an ex-military troop carrier was
used for transport. One camp was only accessible by helicopter and the temperatures
were extremely low. Trace Energy were the previous contractor on this project and also
used EMS' services.
Medical Audit, Kazakhstan
Frontier Medical was contracted to
review two local clinics and a medevac ambulance to
determine the fitness for purpose. We were asked to
recommend the most suitable method for our client to
provide medical facilities for their oil drilling
operation in North East Karachaganak. There are up to
300 personnel at the drilling site that are a mix of
expatriates and locals.
Medical site services, Kazakstan and Russia
Frontier Medical was approached by to provide site
medical services to personnel working on a major infrastructural project
for the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). Frontier paramedics ran clinics
at two sites; one in Russia and the other in Kazakhstan, where they maintained
a high level of general health care, caring for both expatriate employees and
their spouses. Frontier Medical paramedics were instrumental in setting up
evacuation plans and emergency procedures from the 'start up' of the project.
In addition to medical personnel, Frontier was responsible for establishment of
the clinics and supplying medical supplies and equipment.
Power Generation, Kazakhstan
Frontier Medical was contracted to identify
weaknesses in the existing health care systems and
recommend alternatives. As a consequence, Frontier set
up an on-site medical clinic and supplied the
necessary drugs and equipment, which were recommended
and organised by medekit.
Medical Centre, Russia
In 1994 to 2000 EMS established and operated an independent medical clinic in
Nizhnevartovsk, West Siberia. The clinic was staffed by Canadian and Russian doctors
and served the needs of major American, Canadian and British companies working in the
oil and gas industry.
Onshore Oil Exploration and Development, Ukraine
An audit and assessment of local medical
facilities was carried out which identified
shortcomings in the available health care systems. To
overcome these issues a site clinic was set up as a
base for Frontier's medics to implement both
routine and emergency medical support. At the request
of the client, training in trauma and emergency procedures for
Ukrainian medical staff was arranged and carried out in the
UK.
Offshore Oilfield Development, Kazakhstan
Medical support was provided at various
locations both onshore and offshore Kazakhstan.
Pre-employment health screening was conducted to make
certain the client's workforce was able to work
effectively in adverse conditions. To ensure the
welfare of the crew during operations, an occupational
health and safety system was implemented and emergency
medical and evacuation support provided.
Geothermal Energy Project, Phillipines
Frontier Medical's occupational health
nurse appraised clinic facilities at various
project locations, managed medical training
exercises, and recommended medical equipment and
emergency response vehicles.
Medical audit, Bangladesh
The Frontier Medical doctor was asked
to provide a medical audit to assess local hospitals for our
client in Dakar, Bangladesh. Negotiations were held with three
hospital authorities to agree the provision of stabilisation or
holding of patients during medical evacuation, or in the event of
an accident or illness which could not be dealt with on site.
The medical auditor was also required to visit the existing medical
evacuation contractor and provide an assessment of their capabilities.
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Baku Medical Facilities Study, Azerbaijan
EMS conducted a Feasibility Study on a proposed private surgical hospital in Baku. Canadian
and Russian staff inspected most medical facilities in the capital and conducted market
research with government officials, investors and oil company employees.
Drilling Operation, Siberia
Frontier Medical was required to
re-establish an exisiting clinic facility for a drilling
operation. This involved an audit of the existing medical and
surgical supplies, as well as identifying administration
procedures. A review of the Emergency Response Plan was also
the medics responsibility.
