Life skills training
In safety-critical industries such as oil exploration,
the increasing sophistication in the simulation powers of body
manikins means that medics can now test their abilities and
reactions in any real trauma scenario including dealing with
third degree burns, a road crash, acute hypothermia or an industry
specific injury such as a gas poisoning.
An important factor when looking at any manikin for first aid
training is ease of maintenance and use, particularly if training
is managed in groups. Hygiene is key particularly the avoidance of
cross contamination during procedures such as mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Some models rely on cleaning with impregnated wipes, which can work fine - unless
someone is allergic to the antiseptic.
With a wide range of high function, simulated body manikins
available on the market today there's no excuse for anyone who may need
to deliver essential lifesaving, rescue or trauma skills at the coal face
not to be equipped with the skills and confidence that comes with real
life experience - or at least a close simulation of it.
Our colleagues at medekit.com provide a wide range of training aids to
help ensure these vital skills can be learnt in the most effective way possible.
