Evacuation and Emergency Planning
 The risk of personnel working
abroad becoming ill or injured is real. Impeccable preparation and protocol
need to be in place in order to deal with any medical emergency in a rapid and
efficient manner. Frontier Medical assists clients in the preparation of
procedures to facilitate calm management of medical emergencies, enabling
an urgent situation to be dealt with quickly and competently. | |
Frontier will produce a comprehensive emergency evacuation plan tailored to the client's
specific requirements. The criteria will be based on the site location, type of the activities
undertaken by the client's staff, medical facilities available locally and the
capabilities of local medical staff.
Every camp, rig site, vessel or crew location will have a different medical
evacuation (medevac) plan but in the event of an accident or illness there is a
common list of general procedures. Preparation is key and plans designed to be
as simple and comprehensive as possible are fundamental to achieving a smooth evacuation
procedure. Frontier medical personnel will carry out audits of local amenities
in order to determine the best way forward in an emergency.
During the planning and evacuation procedure, a senior doctor based in the
UK is available for consultation and reassurance. In addition, the dedicated
Topside Support team of experienced medical support personnel are contactable
24-hours a day.
Frontier personnel will assess the patient to determine the most appropriate
treatment and, if required, will assist with the transportation of the patient.
Our staff are directly involved with the management of the patient before and
during the evacuation procedure and are responsible for follow up care. In an
emergency you can rely on the solid planning and level-headed service of Frontier.
